Commerce in VR
Where: Facebook Reality Labs
Role: Product Design Manager
Goal: Help people discover and buy games, apps and digital goods in VR, Mobile and Web.
Challenge: Create an incredible and unique commerce experience that leverages the immersive nature of VR to help people discover and evaluate digital goods and purchase them.
Action: I led a team of designers creating commerce experiences in VR. This included every step from discovering apps, evaluating whether you want to purchase them, and finally a friction experience once you decide to purchase. Our team owned design for the Oculus Store in VR, Mobile (iOS and Android) and Web.
My team also led design for the App Lab and the 2D Store. Part of our work also included all of our back end tools that powered our Store and Feed recommendations.
My work also included leading the future design strategy for commerce in AR/VR and how it would integrate with our family of Apps.
Result: Hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue, and a healthy ecosystem supporting creators and developers, while helping people discover incredible VR content and experiences.
Work performed: Design Leadership, Design Strategy, Team Building, Design Planning and Coaching.
